A prefabricated army barracks sat on this Courtois Creek property for nearly 50 years until being purposely burned down in the spring of 2008. A shack at best, it nonetheless quickly became known as "the cabana" among our family and friends. Despite the building being gone, the cabana nickname hung on. Upstream about 100 yards, the spring-fed Lost Creek spills into the Courtois Creek. To the left of the camping acre is public access and Bass River Resort, a local outfitter, uses that land to put in canoers during times of peak river flow. At the end of ArdPark's private road are a few full and part-time neighbors. You will see these folks pass by from time-to-time, by vehicle or ATV, as they give a friendly wave. The campground includes a small shed filled with the amenities listed below. We ask only that you treat these items with care and return them to the shed prior to your departure. About four-tenths of a mile across the road is the Berryman General Store where campground guests will find 3 clean restroom stalls and 2 coin operated showers. The store also serves up a great breakfast and plate lunch special daily. Guests desiring restroom facilities on site can request portable toilet rental at the time of making reservations. There is no charge for making the arrangements for you. Please see rates regarding the cost for a portable toilet. We do not impose any mark up if payment for the toilet rental is made by cash, and only a minimal up charge if paid by credit. The Courtois Cabana campground is just 3 miles from the cabins at ArdPark -- The Pines and the All American. These venues lend a unique opportunity and rental combination for large groups, family reunions, small retreats or cabin guests wanting to compliment their reservation with day passes. On a very personal note, we must be honest and fair to our guests by letting you know that when we first purchased this land it was a dream come true that fulfilled a far-fetched, long-time desire to have our own private river access. Just a year and a half later, ArdPark was born and a pact was then made between ourselves and with close friends to hold the Cabana closed to others on the Memorial Day, Labor Day and Fourth of July holiday weekends. We hope you can understand our little bit of selfishness and consider staying any other days of the year. If there is a time when we plan to not use the Cabana on a holiday weekend, we will post an availability notice on this page. |

For the 2010 season, we plan to build a nice, permanent outhouse at the Courtois Cabana to better accommodate our guests. We look forward to completing this project to add to your experience! |
