ArdPark Cabins Campground Steelville Berryman Missouri Private Lodging Riverfront Camping Hiking Trails Hike Ozark Trail
Guests who enjoy a private trail can spend hours hiking the Mark
Twain National Forest trails
directly off of our cabin properties all the
way to our campground! You can enjoy a short, leisurely walk here as
well. Old abandoned logging roads provide miles of hiking trails
through this rarely traveled Mark Twain National Forest. There are
some watering ponds, lots of wildflowers, great opportunities to view
and photograph wildlife, peace and quiet and significant beauty.
Ozark Trail - Courtois Section
(Berryman and Steelville, Missouri)
The 40 mile Courtois Section of the Ozark Trail has four trailheads. Hazel Creek, 10 miles
from the cabins and campground at ArdPark
, is its southern entry and the Berryman
Trail,
6 miles from the cabins and campground at ArdPark, serves as the northern
trailhead. Access is also available at the Huzzah Conservation Area and Harmon Springs.
A tricky gravel road between "The Narrows" and the Berryman Trail will have you
hiking a long road to nowhere if you don't make the first right past the low water bridge
when traveling west to east.

Ozark Trail - Trace Creek Section
(Washington County, Missouri)
Trace Creek's northern trailhead is very nearby at
Hazel Creek,
only 10 miles from the cabins and
campground at ArdPark
. Hikers can expect to see
dense hickory, oak and pine forests with deep,
shady hallows and some ridges. The drive down
Highway Y to reach Hazel Creek on County Road
657 is also very scenic, winding through Mark
Twain National Forest. In addition to crossing Trace Creek and passing the headwaters of the Big River, this section
of the Ozark Trail also crosses several tributaries and the ever flowing Hazel Creek. About midway on the trail, just
south of Highway DD, a spur trail leads to Council Bluff. To the north, Trace Creek connects to the Courtois Section
of the Ozark Trail and to the south it meets the Taum Sauk Section. This trail crosses Highways C, DD and 32 before
ending at the south trailhead on Highway A outside of Potosi. The north end of the
Middle Fork Section of the Ozark
Trail connects with Trace Creek.
